Need editable Illustrator files when working with Adobe InDesign?

When working in Adobe InDesign it is sometimes useful to draw a basic object in Illustrator and edit it within InDesign.

Let’s test it!

While still in Illustrator:

1) Windows users go to the EDIT MENU and PREFERENCES, while Mac users go to the ILLUSTRATOR MENU and PREFERENCES.
2) Ensure AICB and PDF are checked. Select OKAY and then COPY the illustration.

Now go to Adobe InDesign:

3) PASTE the image into InDesign.

The image is now editable in Adobe InDesign but remember this is not a link. The image is now owned by InDesign within InDesign, ungroup if necessary and edit with one of InDesign's SELECTION TOOLS.
